5 Step Pink Ombré Cupcakes + Buttercream

Hey there, everyone! It's Friday... I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able to say that. It's been a long week, but the good news is it's nothing a yummy cupcake can't fix. Although, an ordinary cupcake might not cut it. At times like these, I prefer something with a little bit more "oomph." So I decided to experiment. Basically, I discovered that food coloring is fairy dust (in the kitchen at least!)
Pink Ombré Cupcakes, makes 22-24 regular size or 58-60 mini size

I decided to take a bit of a shortcut (shame on me!) But I promise, these were just as good as cupcakes made from scratch. Use yellow cake mix, and you'll be done in a jiffy! I used Duncan Hines yellow cake mix and buttercream.

1. Mix up batter. Separate evenly into three bowls.
2. Add red food coloring, creating a dark, medium, and light pink batter.
3. Pour the darkest batter into muffin cups first, then layer on medium and light batter.
4. Bake in oven until toothpick comes out clean.
5. Pipe icing onto cupcakes after they have cooled.
I made these with my lovely best friend Kara. When it comes to icing cupcakes, we know how to have a good time. (Yes, that is a mustache.)
Even Kara's nail polish matched the cupcakes! It was only a matter of time before we were seeing pink.

Wishing you all the best in your next baking experiment! xoxo Jess.
