2013. Let's Do This.

Well, it's the first Monday of the new year. There's no doubt in my mind that every park is teeming with beginning joggers who have sentenced themselves to getting fit as a New Year's resolution and are already regretting it. Plans to suddenly become an organized individual who is never late to work are now beginning to seem ridiculous. Expired resolutions are becoming a trend. For the majority of people, the spirit of "anything is possible" has disappeared overnight. The remnants of confetti to welcome a new year and a new you have been vacuumed up off of the floor, and all that's left is a small trace of wishful thinking that maybe, just maybe, you'll survive the long year ahead of you.

You probably weren't expecting this New Year's post to take such a negative turn, but I'm simply stating the truth. Here's the catch: you might just be one of the few to stick with whatever goal you've set for yourself. So I'm challenging you, along with myself, to rise above all of the quitters. Let's make this year a year of "I did it!" versus "What if?" Personally, I love the feeling of accomplishing an extremely difficult task. I think working hard all year long beats sitting on the couch pondering how it would feel to achieve something. Hopefully you feel the same way because with this kind of mindset, possibilities can actually become possible. We're in for a wonderful year of ups, downs, and roundabouts. If we're willing to accept the craziness, we can definitely make the most out of 2013. When the ball drops once again on December 31, we're going to be ready. In the words of Charles Lamb, "New Year's Day is every man's birthday." Best of luck following your resolutions and sticking it to the statistics!

xoxo Jess.
