Mug Cozies {DIY}

 Today, we're going to talk about mug cozies. Sometimes, I feel like I'm playing a game of hot potato while I'm holding my mug of tea or coffee. You're probably thinking, "Wow, she's crazy," but it's true. So I decided to find a solution. Mug cozies to the rescue!
This project basically consists of 99% knitting and 1% sewing. But do not fear, this is super easy even for first time knitters! First, you need to knit two pieces (no need for anything fancy, just your basic stitch); each piece should wrap halfway around your mug. The size of your pieces will differ depending on what size mug you are using. But just to give you an estimate, my pieces were 12 stitches long and 9 rows tall. I also used size 11 knitting needles.
Once you have finished knitting your two pieces, grab your sewing needle. Sew one side of each piece together, then sew the top and bottom of the other sides together, leaving a gap where the handle of your mug will go.
Now for some finishing touches. Cut out two identical tea bag shaped pieces of felt. I also decided to cut out a little pink heart and stitch it on just to add to the adorableness, but you can get creative and add your own personal touch if you'd like! Now to connect the felt piece to your mug cozy, take a piece of thread/string and tie a french knot through the first felt piece. Then tie that onto your mug cozy. The final step is to use the second tea bag shaped piece of felt and use fabric adhesive to connect it to the back of the other piece (to cover up stitches and neaten things up.)
Now you're all finished... I'd say it's about time for a cup of tea. It may be hot outside, but I'm still proud to call tea my favorite beverage.
Well, thanks for reading! I hope you have an especially happy Friday. xoxo Jess.
