Loose Ends

Hey, it's already May! Summer is at our doorstep and spring is coming to a close. I don't know about you, but I hate loose ends. I like to cut off loose ends or tie them in a pretty bow. As my freshman year of college is coming to an end, I feel like I have so many loose ends to attend to: so many thanks to express, so many goodbyes to say, so many hugs to share.

I wish I could send out a universal Kim Possible "call me beep me" signal to gather all the people that have been influential in my first year of college. If only I could tie up loose ends with each and every one of them. However, if I'm honest, there are simply too many people to track down and thank. Too many people have taught me, inspired me, and poured into me (a wonderful problem to have.) Some have even carried me quite honestly because college is brutal sometimes. I can only hope that my attempts to say goodbye for now convey my deep appreciation for the bright sunspots that have shared some of their light with the wandering freshman me. I feel lucky to have gained such precious family members this year.

It's been a fantastic year. We have shared joy, laughter, and good food along the way. I'm happy to have found family that enjoys cookie dough and Disney movies as much as I do. Family that  also allows me to rant about my day and how that kid sitting beside me in Economics always brings his sugar-glider to class (yes, this actually happened.) Family that lets me ugly cry and makes me cry from laughing. Family that supports me enough to come see me play what I call music every Monday night. I love my family, and I don't say the best goodbyes because I know we'll be together again very soon.

I say a universal thank you to my best friends and life partners, my thick and thin pals. I thank the mentors, encouragers, and guiding hands that have helped me to understand who I am as an individual on my own and trying to be an adult (even though I still really like chicken nuggets and play dough.) You people are some of the best ones out there; you are my home away from home.

I can only anticipate the crazy exciting adventures next year will bring. xoxo Jess.
